Game 3: Lightning All-Stars 5, Lightning 2

Back to full strength, the boys showed some great skill in defeating Lightning, 5-2.

Mateo started off the proceedings six minutes in with some fancy footwork before beating the keeper. But, the All-Stars struggled to put the ball in the net the rest of the half, and Lightning struck back with two minutes to go, making it 1-1 at the half.

Four minutes into the second half, Lightning scored again, but the All-Stars hit back with a nice finish from Juan eight minutes in. At that point, the goals started rolling in. Jonathan scored the go-ahead three minutes later, and Sergio made it 4-2 at 34 minutes. Andy once again scored the final goal of the game, with three minutes left.

Game 2: Tanzman's Tornadoes 5, Lightning All-Stars 3

With three regular players absent, Lightning All-Stars welcomed two substitutes and put up a game effort before succumbing to Tanzman's, 5-3.

Lightning got on the board early with a goal from Sergio, and held tight on defense for most of the first half until Tanzman's broke through for a goal three minutes from the half.

Tanzman's opened the second half scoring four minutes in, but the All-Stars came right back with a goal from Sergio. Tanzman's took a two-goal lead with consecutive goals in the 30th and 31st minutes, but Lightning would not give up. Juan tallied in the next minute, and Lightning knocked on the door for the rest of the game, but could not break through. Tanzman's scored with two minutes left to ice the game.

Game 1: Lightning All-Stars 8, Boom 5

A great start to the season for the young Lightning men. The boys got off to a roaring start in the first half, jumping out to a 3-0 lead after just five minutes. Boom struck back with a goal, but Lightning answered with two more to make it 5-1. Another Boom goal was answered with two more from Lightning. The score was 7-2 after the 20-minute half.

The Boom defense tightened up in the second half, and they scored three straight goals to draw within 7-5 with four minutes to go. But, Lightning put another on the board to wrap it up, 8-5.

A great team effort from the boys!

This is the blog for folks who want to following the 4th (!) year of Lightning All-Stars winter indoor soccer.

Last year the boys were undefeated regular season and playoff champions, so the league has asked us to play a year up (U12) in the regular season. We will likely drop down to our own age group for the playoffs. So, this will be a good challenge for the boys.
